Wifi for Gites

Gite guests generally expect internet access and providing this properly requires a number of things to be considered.

Firstly there is the question of how to get the connection to the gite(s). Depending on the relative locations of the gite(s) and main house, this may be wired or it may need to be a wireless link.

Once the internet connection is present at the gite, it needs to presented as a WiFi signal. Generally, cabled connections are not required but are not a problem to add if you do have a need for them.

In the gite itself, there is the question of the range of the WiFi signal. Ideally, it should be accessible throughout the gite and possibly into the garden/pool areas as well.

If you have several gites, you might want to implement some usage management to ensure that everyone gets a fair share (if you are lucky enough to have a fast internet connection to begin with!).

Finally there is the matter of security - there is a separate page covering this as you will want to protect both your guests from each other and protect your own devices from guests!
